Lately, I find myself drawn to watching old classic movies. Old is really gold. Two days ago, I saw Heer Ranjha which was released in 1970. Apart from a few tawdry scenes which were a part of every film of that era, I really really liked the movie. The thing which made this movie a treat to watch was, the whole narrative was in couplets!
And today I watched Anaarkali, released in 1953. Slightly different from what I read in the original text, but very good nonetheless. Nadira a.k.a Anaarkaali looked quite silly whenever she was happy. :P
That's a very very short review of the movies, maybe it's not even a review (because it wasn't actually meant to be :D) and it's better if you watch these movies yourself, very soon. Though I would share a few good songs from both.
The first one is "Milo Na Tum Tou" from Heer Ranjha. I didn't know it belonged to this movie.
"Dou Dil Tootey Dou Dil Haarey", a sad number, as the title implies.
Coming to Anaarkali, the movie starts with this beautiful song, the sad version of which concludes the movie.
Sad version of "Yeh Zindagi uss hi ki hai"
"O Aasmaan Waaley Shikva Hai Zindagi Ka"

"Yeh zindagi ussi ki hai" is one of my all time favourites. I haven't watched these movies though.
I like how beautiful the Heer Ranjha's heroine looks. And, I laughed so hard at "Nadira a.k.a Anaarkaali looked quite silly whenever she was happy." :)
